Department meeting

Meetings are helpful when they provide an opportunity for people to share information, make announcements, or engage in departmental decision-making – but they can be detrimental if instead they are used to create obstacles for others, display status or power, or support work-avoidance by substituting endless discussion for action. The following table briefly summarises some of the challenges and advantages of the fact that academic decision-making is so heavily reliant on discussion and meetings.

Research interests:

Metrology of time and frequency. Synchronization in distributed control and measurement systems. Design and integration of measurement and data acquisition systems. Development of software for DAQ systems under Windows and Linux operating systems. ADC modules dynamic testing.

 

Teaching activities:

Lectures and laboratory exercises in Measurement and Data Acquisition Systems, Virtual Instrumentation, Measurement Systems and Instrumentation.

Research interests:

Design of the measuring instruments with ARM based single chip microcontrollers (ARM Cortex- M4, M0,..) and signal processors. Software Defined Instruments.

Teaching activities:

Lectures and laboratory exercises in Design of Control Part of Digital Instruments and Modules, Contactless Measurements, Visual Sensors and Measurements, Application of Microprocessors in Measurement.

Member of the PhD study Committee for Technical Cybernetics at the University of Chemical Technology in Prague, member of the Technical commissions of standardisation TNK 12 "Quantities and Values" of the Czech Institute of Standardisation, past member of the IMEKO (International Measurement Confederation) TC-4 - Measurement of Electrical Quantities, vice-chairman of the Czech National Committee of IMEKO, member of the Editorial Board of the "International Journal of Computing".
