New issue of TecniCall: Shot Detection and Voice Transmission Measurement

Currently, systems using advanced acoustic signal processing are increasingly used not only for military applications but also for civilian purposes. With increasing attacks in schools, campuses, shopping malls, or hospitals there is a requirement for automatic firing detection by other methods than camera systems in conjunction with the operator. Localization and classification of fire using acoustic detection are therefore becoming increasingly important for the safety of the population.

Research team at the Department of Measurement led by prof. Holub is also engaged in measuring the clarity and quality of the transmitted voice and developing new methods for these measurements.

You can read more about parallel speech intelligibility testing and fire detection and localization in TecniCall 1/2019 on p. 23 (in Czech).
